I'm really pleased to have joined the American Studies Research Group, an interdisciplinary academic research group based in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Bristol. The group is made up from faculty staff and post-graduate researchers, and exists to support and share research on American topics within the Faculty.

For my research topic, this research group is a natural place to be. The Apollo Program wasn't just an American enterprise, but also a projection of American values and ability in a Cold War world. The rocket that facilitated the missions is as much a piece of Americana as it is a piece of engineering.

I'm looking forward to getting involved with the group over the course of this term and beyond, to exploring the other research being conducted in the group, and to contributing to their efforts going forwards.

Finally. I've been meaning to do this for ages. I've owned the domain for two years. And now, finally, I've actually built myself my website.

Sure, it isn't the fanciest website going, but it's just me doing it and I'm not a website designer. I'm not trying to sell anything, other than myself, and it covers most of the ground that it needs to. Basically, it's a good place to talk about the work that I've been doing, either with my research or in the world of media.

Now that I've built it, I just need to remember to come through and use it...
